News and Announcements

About Us:  This January, the Point Loma Cluster Schools Council established a "Go Green Team"  that is helping implement "Go Green" teams and programs at each school site, which will serve as a resource for all schools.  All programs will be student-based and supported with education.  Emphasis will be placed on our inter-relationship with the environment and our responsibility in protecting our planet as part of citizenship.

What's Happening Now:  Sunset View Elementary and Ocean Beach Elementary have both participated in Flag Ceremonies to kick off their environmental efforts.  By next year, we hope that all 10 Cluster Schools will reach out to their students and make the difference needed in our community and world.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!  Starting with the Basics:

Reduce:
Reduce Paper Consumption:
Local schools are trying to reduce the amount of paper generated at schools.  Emails and eblast are becoming common practice and should be promoted.
Reduce the amount you drive:
Ride Your Bike to Work Day - Friday, May 16th
Reduce your water consumption:  Please conserve our water.

Reuse:  Ocean Beach Elementary has offered an environmentally friendly fundraiser with WrapnMats.  Students now can use these reusable wraps to take sandwiches and other goodies for lunch.  Reduce your waste and look into getting these reusable mats at your school.

Recyle:  Students and staff already have the opportunity to recycle all paper, plastic bottles, and cans at their school as EDCO is the recyclying in your own home.  www.edcodisposal.com/kids/recycle.html
