Matriculation Support

Dana Middle School

Student tours:  All 4th grade students and teachers from Point Loma Elementary schools visit Dana during January or February.  Students meet Principal Ryan, Vice Principal Irwin, and other important staff members. Students tour the campus with classmates and have their questions about middle school answered!

Parent tours:  4th grade students and parents are invited to participate in a school tour. Meet with Principal Ryan and other staff members during a Q/A session. Visit the campus and tour the library and classrooms. The 2011 Tours are held on February 3rd, March 3rd, April 14th, and May 5th. All tours begin at 3:30 p.m. Reservations are not necessary. Please stop by the office to sign in and receive a map of the campus. Students are welcome.

Parent breakfasts:  Come have fun at our informal breakfast!  Principal Ryan, Vice Principal Irwin, and Dana Association Directors share all of the exciting ways Dana parents are involved with their child’s experience at the middle school level.


Correia Middle School

Student Tours:  All 6th grade students from Dana will visit Correia in early spring.  Bus transportation is provided by the school.  A 90 minute tour provides students with an opportunity to explore the campus, meet the administrative team, learn about the instructional program at Correia, and visit classrooms.

Parent tours:  Parents are invited to participate in a school tour in the Spring.  Meet with Principal Ladd and other staff members with a presentation about Correia.  Visit the campus and tour the library and classrooms.

Pastry with Patty (principal chat) and Correia Association Meetings:  Come have fun at our informal breakfast and find out how parents support our school/programs! Principal Ladd, Vice Principals Annette Rieger and Stanley Munro, and Correia Association members share the exciting ways Correia parents are involved with their child’s experience at the middle school level.


Pt. Loma High School

Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience.  Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew trains members of the junior and senior classes to be Link Leaders.  As positive role models, Link Leaders are motivators, leaders and teachers who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshmen success.  Mentors learn team and climate building skills, organization through team activities and small group activities, leadership skills that will carry on after high school, communication skills, teaching skills, and personal development.

“Picture Yourself a Pointer”  In January, 8th grade students are invited meet key staff, student leaders, tour the campus, participate in an activity, and view various performances by PLHS students.  This is your chance to find out what it means to be a Point Loma Pointer.

“New Family Night”  Held in January, the purpose of Family Night is for incoming freshmen and their parents to understand what it is like to be a pointer, to learn about the different classes, including core classes, electives, and advanced classes.
